Say hello to this student led non profit events organisation and goodbye to your repetitive rounds of Concert Square. Combining female empowerment through charity work alongside drum and bass DJ sets - The Six have well and truly smashed it.
The start of SITC: from hungover heads to making a mission
We’ve all been there - debriefing with your housemates on those delirious days battling a Hatch hangover. Quite possibly some of the worst. But after rotting away on their sofa, these six students decided to make a change.
They began discussing Liverpool’s nightlife and questioned how much they actually enjoyed it. To cure any beer fear from the previous night - they began questioning: was Liverpool’s club scene dying out? Did students prefer house parties to clubbing? Where were the student led events? And most importantly, was everyone’s favourite night out really Hatch?
An even split in their house apparently. Don’t worry Hatch, we still love you.

“If we’re being honest Six in The City was founded in our front room, blinds down, sofas full, heads hungover – it was a Sunday in September.”
Their talented friends who only mixed in sweaty houses on Smithdown were also a key foreground of SITC. They wanted to showcase their friends whilst “having a good time and getting loose all in the name of charity”.
Thus, the non profits events organisation SITC was born and allowed student DJs to perform in independent Liverpool venues. Creating high energy nights which leave a lasting positive impact upon Liverpool’s local community is part of their mission - combining both good music and good people together.
Events and Achievements
With a huge love for Liverpool, The Six are extremely grateful to call it home. As they love the events scene they wanted to create an event showcasing something for everyone with a wide range of genres.

“Between us six there is a big mix in music taste, therefore we want our dancefloor to reflect that. From a saxophonist to a Drum and Bass DJ- we have a lot to offer”
For their first event SITC partnered with WHISC; this charity is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women and their families throughout Liverpool. An immense £1200 was raised, as well as awareness for WHISC’s amazing cause. Being a group of six young women this was a big win - and fulfilled their passion of female empowerment.

Their second event hosted at 24 Kitchen Street partnering with Merside Youth Association (MYA) then raised £1300. MYA is a charity dedicated to providing support progammes and opportunities for young people across the Merseyside.
Other events across Meraki, Black Cat and Baltic Weekender were also some of their favourites and left them with feelings of astonishment at their own achievements.
“Seeing the queue to our favourite pub snake the whole way down Smithdown honestly gave us goosebumps. And of course, having a stage in 24KS for Baltic weekender was just the cherry on top”
Advice from The Six
Balancing both degrees and Drum and Bass DJ sets is never as simple as it sounds. There is a lot of admin that goes unseen which The Six highlighted.
Giving everyone they would like a chance to DJ has also been a struggle as it just isn’t possible at times. Despite this, every night out The Six find themselves swarming upcoming DJs in smoking areas whilst speaking about their next events.

They know how to network, that’s for sure.
The Six shared how within the events industry, you must go for it. Make those connections, reach out and support others doing the same thing. Making an ethos and creating a difference also goes a long way.
But most importantly - give a SITC event a go whilst you still can. You won’t be a student forever!
“Don’t just believe the hype – come see for yourself”
