WiB Families
What are WiB Families?
WiB Families are smaller groups designed so you can ask questions to a committee member, hear about opportunities, attend smaller scale events, and also gain experiences presented by the committee member. The aim of these groups are to foster deeper connections and support networks within our comminty. They provide a space where individuals can share their triumphs, challenges, and aspiration - which in turn will contribute to the way our society functions.

Families are primarily hosted through WhatsApp Group Chats, but committee members are encouraged to host meet up sessions or 1-to-1s with members who have questions or want to discuss topics related to our society. By joining, the committee member will hear your voice and encourage your involvement and settling into the WiB community.

Each family will act differently dependent on the committee member so it is important to consider these differences when signing up to a family.
How do I join a WiB Family?
You may meet a committee member and they will invite you to their family or you may have read a committee profile, or already have a personal connection with a committee member and look to join theirs.

To join:

1. Go to our 'Meet the Committee' page on our website
2. Click on the WhatsApp logo under the relevant committee member's profile
3. Join the WhatsApp chat
4. Introduce yourself either to the group or to the committee member and get involved!

These groups will certainly support your journey through out the academic year and help ensure you get the most from our society.
How should I decide which WiB Family is best to join?
You may debating "Which WiB Family would best benefit me?", here are some questions you should ask before deciding on the family/families you would like to join:

1. What are your interests? - If a committee member's interests align with your own it is likely they will share this type of content with you
2. What are your aspirations? - If a committee member's aspirations align with your own or the course they are studying is related to yours, they will be more inclined to share opportunities within this realm
3. What is their committee role? - Committee member's will be working on their roles and therefore will come into information related to this, therefore, ensure this aligns with what you are interested in. For example, if you are interested in Marketing, joining the Marketing Coordinator's Family may be valuable etc
4. What have they been posting? - Check our channels or their own channels (e.g., LinkedIn)
5. What is their past experience? - If a member has experience in an industry or sector you admire, let them know as they will be happy to help you navigate it
6. Do you have a connection to the committee member? You may know the committee member or have had a pleasant interactions with them
Can I join more than one WiB Family?
Yes of course! You may wish to join a few as you sus out the different tendencies, so feel free to explore!
