Mentorship

Today, finding an effective mentor can be more challenging than finding a job. To overcome this, we have set up a mentorship scheme to connect mentors and mentee's for our student members.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor or mentee, please sign up via the forms:

How does the mentorship scheme work?

As a mentor:

1. You will submit the mentor form and provide an accurate profile relating to the realms in which you would like to mentor.

2. You will be tasked with our short mentorship course and equipped with our resources to help support you on the different approaches you can take to be an effective and useful mentor.

3. You will generate a topic plan, outlining the key areas you wish to mentor, your availability, and desired forms of communication.

4. Following from our matchmaking process, you will be matched with a mentee and can begin the mentorship!

From our side, you will remain in contact with members of the committee to ensure you are happy with the mentorship scheme. Further to this, you will be able to take part in a select of our society activities and events, and be in with the chance to win the 'Mentor of the Year' award at the 2025 WiB Awards. We thank you for making a difference in our community!

As a mentee:

1. You will submit the mentee form and provide an accurate profile relating to the fields in which you are interested in.

2. Based on your answers and the available mentors, you will be matched with a mentor.

3. Following the match, you have the opportunity to review the mentorship structure, devised by the mentor and can decide on its suitability to your objectives.

4. Once accepted, you will be introduced to your mentor by a member of the committee and will begin the mentorship scheme.

From our side, you will remain in contact with members of the committee to ensure you are happy with the mentorship scheme. A committee member will set up a review call/meeting with you during the early stage of your mentorship to discuss your progress and attitude towards the scheme, whilst considering any ways in which we can better the scheme. We will also ask you for a testimonial after some time with your mentor to better promote the scheme.
